Three days of SoFi, PMF, and great discussions

We are happy to share that this year’s SoFi workshop has come to a close after three intensive and highly engaging days.

Participants joined us from across the globe, bringing a wide range of backgrounds and datasets, which made for a particularly dynamic and interactive workshop experience. We started with a structured introduction to source apportionment and Positive Matrix Factorization (PMF), before moving into practical applications within the SoFi software.

Throughout the workshop, participants worked directly with their own datasets, allowing immediate translation of methodological concepts into real analysis workflows. We quickly focused on more advanced PMF strategies and SoFi functionalities, including deeper exploration of modelling choices, diagnostic tools, and interpretation challenges.

Across all three days, the level of engagement was exceptional. The numerous questions, discussions, and hands-on problem solving sessions created a collaborative environment that went well beyond a standard training format. On the last evening, we stepped away from datasets and diagnostics and gathered for a social dinner. It was a relaxed and genuinely fun evening with lots of conversations, laughter, and the kind of discussions that don’t involve Q values or residuals for once.

We would like to thank all participants for their active involvement and great discussions throughout the workshop. We are already looking forward to the next SoFi workshop!
